Ximuwu Lodge has perfected the balance between a premium luxury lodge and offering truly diverse activities, all the while allowing the guest to have freedom of choice during their stay. For an exclusive use experience, one will be hard pressed to beat what Ximuwu Lodge offers.
Located in the world famous Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (one of the few reserves that is part of and open to the Greater Kruger National Park), guests are spoilt with 6Â 500 hectares of prime wilderness to enjoy on their own. The lodge offers a minimum of 4 guests and a maximum of 8 guests. To ensure true exclusivity, the lodge is booked out in its entirety by guests. Whether it be a family safari or a close group of friends, Ximuwu is the choice for an intimate safari experience.
The following activities are offered as standard to guests visiting Ximuwu Lodge:
- Game drives daily (unlimited and at any time the guests wish to go out)
- Walking safaris (the choice to take a walk in Big 5 country is available to guests should they want this during their stay)
- Photographic hides (guests that enjoy photography can spend time in these specially built and located hides to capture the ultimate photograph of video)
- Sound safari (experience the bush using specialised directional microphones and amplifiers to hear your surroundings in a totally unique way)
- Starlight exploration (experience a game drive using only state-of-the-art night vision goggles, ensuring no light disturbance and a once in a lifetime moment)
- Helicopter flights (each guest is offered the enjoyment of a 30 minute flight over the bushveld where you can game view, as well as appreciate the spectacular scenery of the area which includes the Blyde River Canyon)
- Spa treatment (guests receive a complimentary 1 hour spa session during their stay to help unwind and relax completely)
- Sleep out platform / deck (designed for 2 guests at a time, the sleep out platform lets guests experience the spectacular night skies and sounds in total privacy)
The Lodge at Ximuwu
Featured by Sophie Morgan in Conde’ Nast Traveler, the lodge exudes luxury yet fits into the landscape effortlessly. There are uninterrupted views of the wild for guests to feel constantly part of nature. Depending on the elements, Ximuwu has indoor and outdoor dining facilities. A fantastic swimming pool can be utilised for those hot days where one needs to cool off from the heat. Even when walking through the main areas, guest can enjoy some striking and stunning decorative sights.
The entire lodge as well as vehicles are completely wheelchair friendly. This is a unique offering at Ximuwu Lodge and shows the dedication of the lodge to incorporate all its guests.
A pilot / guide room is available for groups that require it.
As this is an exclusive use lodge, guests can enjoy a tailormade experience according to their own needs and wants. There is no need to fit into a set schedule at Ximuwu Lodge and guests determine their own type of experience.
Ximuwu Lodge Suites
All the individual suites at Ximuwu are North facing, which is important, given the climate of the lowveld in South Africa. Floor to ceiling windows in each suite provide breathtaking views of the bushveld. The suites ensure privacy yet are not too far away for families and friends to be cut off from one another. As with the theme of Ximuwu, the suites are luxurious but are also able to fit in with the landscape. All individual suites have a view of the main waterhole at the lodge.
Dining Experience
Ximuwu Lodge is a Big 5 safari lodge but also a culinary experience, with a private chef on site to provide exquisite cuisine to guests. When staying at Ximuwu, guests can opt for bush picnics, high teas, elegant dinners, or relaxed poolside meals. Guests can even opt to have their breakfast or dinner out in the bush for a truly special experience. Many of the ingredients used in the meals are grown on the property and there is even an aquaponics system including Tilapia fish. Should guests require any hard-to-find ingredients, Ximuwu has its own Cessna (aircraft) to head out and get those items. In the spirit of guest freedom, which is a trend at Ximuwu, guests are also given their own meal preferences. An onsite Sommelier is also available to prepare incredible drinks should guests require.
Getting There
Ximuwu Lodge is located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. There are direct flights into Hoedspruit Airport from either Cape Town International Airport or OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). Hoedspruit is the safari capital of the lowveld and the lodge is located a mere 45 minutes away from the Hoedspruit airport. Guests will be transferred from Hoedspruit Airport to the lodge directly by vehicle. There is also the option for those travelling on private aircraft to land directly at Ximuwu instead.
As this package is exclusive use of Ximuwu Lodge, there is no set itinerary for guests. Guests can choose their own activities during their stay and can set their own pace. This is a unique feature of Ximuwu compared to a traditional safari lodge stay.
The only items that are set upfront are the transfers to and from the lodge and Hoedspruit Airport, based on guests’ inbound and outbound flight times.
Matumi Destinations will engage directly with guests to determine what type of safari they are wanting from Ximuwu. Whether it be an activity filled 4-night stay or a relaxed and laid back 4-night stay, Ximuwu Lodge will ensure you have the trip you want. Matumi Destinations will also discuss dietary requirements with guests and preferences in terms of cuisine and beverages. This allows the lodge to prepare for the guests and have the correct ingredients to provide that extra special experience.
*Matumi Destinations recommends a minimum of 4 nights for guests at Ximuwu, considering the incredible activities on offer and to fully experience the property. However, should guests want to have a longer safari, this is also possible, and we will gladly cater to your desired trip duration.
