The lodge design is detailed and sophisticated, with all the comforts you could ask for. We really enjoyed sitting at Ximuwu's world class "Soho" bar while looking out at a heard of elephants, drinking from the watering hole a few meters in front of us, at the same time lions roar not too far AND the cry of jackals! "The family" at Ximuwu made us feel so special. Mr T, with his big smile, was there whenever we needed something, service that you will be hard pressed to find anywhere. Matt & Frank took us on the adventures of a lifetime, we have never experienced such exclusive game viewing before, their knowledge and passion for the bush was amazing. Our bush highlight: Seeing Wild Dogs on a kill! Then watching 4 species of vultures fight for the leftovers, THEN, 10 min later we watched 8 lions take & fight over another Impala! We would personally like to give "our" chef Abigail a Michelin star for the culinary excellence, molto delizioso!! Thank you Annette for bringing it all together & making us feel at home. Thank you Elly & Patrick for creating this luxury haven out in the African wilderness, we hope to visit you and your amazing Ximuwu again soon.VerifiedJoyce2023-08-23Hakuna Matata.. Lodge Ximuwu is a wonderful place.. No worries for the rest of the day. WowwwVerifiedChooiHoong F2023-06-15Beyond expectations/ fully accesible When I saw Elly Suverein’s posting about her Lodge I was excited because it said the place was wheelchair accessible. From the moment we arrived their services for people with mobility issues was beyond my expectation. Not just hold rails and shower stools in bathroom. Whole Lodge was step free and if there were ( at spa room and tiny step into villas) all manageable even independently. No worries about having to climb or be carried onto jeep to go on safari as there is a built in ramp at entrance to get into them. For getting out of the jeep for meals in the bush the Ximuwu team led by Annette will set up a ramp! to help one off. They even offered me use of their electric wheelchair but I had no need of that as my manual chair was fine. Villas beautifully decorated, modern functional. All meals customized for guests needs. Free flow cocktails and house wines. Helicopter ride was a highlight. Pool hoist for swimming pool. Patrick even set up a bath hoist for me to try. Safari Guide Matthew and his tracker Frank were very knowledgeable and worked very hard to spot all Big Five for us to see and which we did! ( on our 1st African Safari) I truly recommend this Lodge for everybody and ESPECIALLY with mobility issues as the owners Patrick & Elly has not overlooked any detail in making your stay as comfortable and manageable as possible. If there were 6 or 10 star rating I would have given it ☺️VerifiedAzmi M2023-06-14Simply great Great stay. We saw the big 5: Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, a Water Buffalo and (on the final morning) an elusive leopard. Great personnel. Safari Guide: Matt Porter. Manager: Annette Porter. Cooks: Mona & Abigail, Mixologist: Gifford and server Mr T. I would say my expectations were exceeded. I wasn’t keen to take the helicopter ride but it was good experience. Cuisine was great. Comfy spacious room. One particular aspect of the resort is that it’s wheelchair friendly.VerifiedKarenHoh2023-06-13Unforgettable Safari Experience at Ximuwu The whole experience at Ximuwu, from pick-up on arrival to drop-off at the airport on the day of departure, was outstanding. Billed as “Wheelchair Safari,” and no kidding! Customised vehicles, design of the buildings (chalets, dining, lounge and sundeck areas), amenities, attention to detail, Ximuwu exceeded expectations. So many places only pay lip-service to accessibility, but not Ximuwu. Disclosure: I do not have mobility issues (yet) but one person in my party did. Service quality was top notch. Delicious meals were curated based on pre-trip guest info forms. Drinks and snacks available anytime. A major highlight was having two full-on meals in the bush in gorgeous locations to enjoy the sunset, moonrise or the magnificent trees around us. The safari drives were great. Getting up at the crack of dawn never seemed so easy! Our safari guide and tracker were stupendous, pointing out not only land animals but birds and insects as well. I highly recommend Ximuwu for anyone who wants a special safari experience. And if you have mobility issues, Ximuwu is the place. Thanks to all staff who made our stay so memorable – from Manager to Mixologist and all in between. And to the lodge owners who had the foresight to create a wonderful place that is inclusive and accessible to all.VerifiedAnnie v2023-05-04Highly Recommended an Unforgettable experience.
